Public Health

Klinik Espwa has a public health program that oversees health of Espwa staff and residents, as well as provides programs for the surrounding village such as: tuberculosis and malaria treatment & prevention, HIV screening and education, fluoride treatment, and vaccinations. The new clinic will provide much needed space for more public health education, as well as ongoing testing and treatment. Many diseases endemic to the area are preventable, which makes public health education so vital. Brown University Med Student, Will Perez (pictured above with some of his public health team members), has developed this program and trained staff for ongoing execution of PH efforts.

Here, a public health team member, under the
direction of Will Perez, treats a child for scabies.

Will teaches the public health team how to
perform water-quality tests at Espwa for
prevention of water-borne pathogens.
